New Dragon Age: The Veilguard gameplay will help you forget about that awful reveal trailerIf you were unconvinced by the trailer BioWare debuted during the Xbox Games Showcase, perhaps this new gameplay footage will change your mind. The trailer follows Varric and Dragon Age's newest hero Rook, who are hot on the heels of the Dreadwolf, Solas. As Varric and Rook make their way through the awe-inspiring Minrathous, Solas starts his ritual to rip down The Veil, and demons begin to flood the city. We also get our first look at some real-time combat (along with an ability wheel to order commands to companions), dialogue choices, and more. It's all looking very promising so far!BioWare has also revealed more details on Veilguard's story. According to the developer, Veilguard has you "embark on a quest to face powerful Elven gods and stop the destruction they’re unleashing on the world." Solas, the "Elven Trickster god of legend," wants to tear down the Veil that separates Thedas from the world of demons to restore his people's immortality, even if it's at the cost of countless other lives. After his ritual to tear down the Veil goes awry, two ancient and powerful adversaries who seek to dominate the world are released. Playing as Rook, you will need to forge relationships and become an unexpected leader of a colorful crew of companions, each who have their own storylines and motivations, to stop those Elven gods.When it comes to the seven different companions, you will see both new and familiar faces, and your decisions throughout your journey through Thedas will affect your relationships with each character. You will rest and learn more about these characters at The Lighthouse, which "provides a central place where you can rest, learn more about the world through conversations, while the Crossroads allows you to traverse to separate explorable regions of the world with your companions."
