I obtain every achievement in every game I play, period. Once I start a game, I will keep playing as long as necessary, no matter how frustrated I am, no matter how much I hate it, no matter how little fun I am having. It's just something I must do.
The two most notorious achievements that drove me to that point of hatred for the game were:
- A God is Born in Catherine.
- The secret achievement in Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. All I wanted to do was look at some girls. Little did I know how tedious, repetitive, and frustrating it would become.
I didn't ever grow to hate GTA IV, but the Wanted and Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic achievements were also extremely tedious and frustrating at times.
I've been known to boost, but I try to avoid it. I don't like seeing solutions on TrueAchievements where the only advice given for unlocking an achievement is how to boost it. Either include tips on how to get it legit, or leave the solution-writing to someone who's better at the game.
I like to play through a game first without looking at the achievements. I enjoy having them unlock by surprise as a result of my regular gameplay. If I enjoyed the game enough to play through it multiple times, I'll start a second playthrough on a higher difficulty and do the same thing, then after that, read the achievements and go for them on my third playthrough. If I didn't care for the game, I'll read the list and be sure to get them all on my second playthrough.
I like strategy, adventure, RPG, and stealth, with some point-n-click and puzzling thrown in for variety. I like the science fiction, horror, superhero, and crime genres. I don't like most shoot-em-ups, punch-em-ups, racing games, or sports games. I won't play a game with a wizard, elf, or dragon in it.
My favorite XBox games, approximately in order:
Hitman: Contracts
Hitman: Blood Money
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
XCOM: Enemy Within
Batman: Arkham City
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Red Dead Redemption
Scarface: The World Is Yours
I realize there are sequels to many of these games, and I've played most of them, but I don't think they are as great as their predecessors.
Thanks for reading.
