Hunter's Trophy 2 America Reviews

Hunter's Trophy 2: America is a first-person shooter of sorts but is a far cry from your modern run and gun efforts. Firstly, it's a very slow, plodding affair and secondly you're shooting animals as opposed to some kid from the other side of the world called xX1SM0K3W33D420Xx or something.

Set in America (obviously), the game sees you earning your hunting permits via a few different minigame-style tutorials and hunting various types of game out in the woodlands.

Hunting plans (your missions) come in just a few flavours. You either go to set spots in the map and flush out your targets so that you can shoot them in their stupid beaky faces with a shotgun or you wander around the woods tracking them down and then gunning them down. You either shoot things with shotguns or rifles and the things you shoot are either going to be flying around or grazing aimlessly. That's it.

Occasionally you get to be a dog and track down targets by following their scent. This, oddly, feels a bit like being the xenomorphs in an Alien Vs Predator game and keeping up with the scent trails can be a tiny bit tricky and is probably the only slightly taxing thing in the whole game but even then it's no real challenge.

Presentation is pretty clunky with simple graphics and sound which are similar to the genre favourite, Cabela. They do a reasonable job though even if you are occasionally straining your eyes to see if a pixel in the distance twitches.

The entire hunting season (that's your campaign) can be completed in a few hours and there's no multiplayer to beef up the gameplay so don't expect much value for money. Especially as the game is 99% the same game as Hunter's Trophy 2: Australia. They play exactly the same and all that is different is the type of animals you hunt. A total rip-off in that respect.

    Achievements

Both Hunter's Trophy XBLA games are easy to max. Once you figure out how to control your dog and how to shoot, you are well on your way to maxing them out for 400GS each.

This game is easily completed in just a few hours with no real skill or grind achievements to worry about. You will have to put in an extra 30 minutes or so after you beat the campaign in order to level up enough for all your stat upgrades but that's nothing to worry about.

Tip: make your life easier by going into the settings and changing your aim to free cursor. Also, level up you concentration skill when it lets you. It's basically a cheat mode for the game.

    Summary

At 800M$P, Hunter's Trophy 2: America is a cheap and easy game to score a 400GS max on. It's not a game you'll come back to and it offers literally nothing new compared to Hunter's Trophy 2: Australia. That said, the slow pace may suit some gamers and, if you don't mind being a bit of a prick to some rabbits, there's a little bit of morally-questionable fun to be had with this game.

I'll start by saying that this is my first review and I am glad to share with you guys (and gals) how I feel about this game !

Okay so let's begin: Hunter's Trophy 2 America is obviously a really easy 400g that should take you about 5 hours to complete ... It's has some innovative feature like being able to play as the dog to find the animal you are looking for... Also, the graphic and the maps are good looking if you consider it's an arcade game. Beside all of this, the game's mechanic doesn't feel natural at all. The aiming is very ''arcade-ish'' and it makes it difficult to be precise. Besides, the game is very repetitive, I have played a couple of hunting games over the years but this one is not like what you expect a good hunting game to be but still, don't get me wrong, the game ISN'T terrible.

In conclusion, I would recommand you buy this game if you want an easy completition and 400g for the cheap price of 800 msp and a couple hours of playing, but if you are looking for a great hunting game, don't buy this.

Thanks for reading and if you think some improvements could be made, leave a comment below, cheers ! toast

    General Review
Hunter's Trophy 2 America is an oddity on the arcade store as its practically identical to its sister game Hunter's Trophy 2 Australia, down to them having the same maps, animal spawns, achievement names, and almost everything else. The only real difference is that the textures are swapped between the two games to make them feel more authentic to their name sake countries. There is a lot of unintentional humor to find in these games, from the strangely sadistic achievements that require you to kill your own hunting dogs and the tool tips that tell you about it, to the buggy rag doll of the animals you shoot that often sends them stiffly flying around the screen. The game looks generally decent though the lighting and copy pasted textures can make it difficult to spot smaller animals which could be argued makes the game a little more realistic. Its a mostly arcade like hunting game with even the option to switch gun controls to mimic light gun shooters, however I would not recommend this as it makes certain sections almost impossible to control. The music is a very generic orchestral soundtrack that is mostly forgettable. The customization and unlockable RPG elements of the game are very light and don't bog down the experience too much if you want to get straight into the hunts. The sense of progression can be rewarding as you progress from hunting small hares and pheasants, too taking down scores of ducks, depopulating entire ecosystems and even taking down large game like brown bears and moose.
    Recommendation
Before the price drop to 99 cents I would say leave this title alone as 10 dollars was far to high an asking price. However with this price drops on the online store due to its eminent closure I can recommend picking this up if you want a light funny arcade hunting game with relatively easy achievements (If you can stomach shooting your own hunting dog) and a quick pace. As I said earlier this game is identical to Hunter's Trophy 2 Australia at the same price and I would recommend picking up both for just under 2 dollars. That being said, my review of that game will be almost identical to this one in honor of how they copy pasted to make both games, therefore I will be copy and pasting most of this review for that one. Enjoy the easy 400g from both!
