Poll: Would you be interested in an Xbox handheld?

  • Posted on 09 June 24 at 14:14
When the Steam Deck can't play all Steam games, I don't have high hopes that an MS gaming handheld is going to be able to really offer a better experience than the Steam Deck or one of the other devices that you can stream Xbox onto will exist.
And I'm not saying that the market for portable gaming doesn't exist, but what is the ultimate point with where technology is right now? I am not against the idea of one, but considering more and more games are requiring a new connection just to exist, this seems like a bad business move.

I agree with most here, if it can download games instead of streaming then absolutely. If not, I will probably stick to my phone and controller adapter for game pass streaming. I'm hoping it will be similar to steam deck, with the option to do both. Not sure if it will be game pass only games either.

Yes and no. The current console was supposed to be an all in one. Your can access your library on desktop or laptop. If they do handheld… low hopes because the gfwl failed, windows phone failed. I would get one if it was on par with the steam deck and if they put emulators or cloud we we can access closed games and servers
do i have to delete my save data, and reset everything? i beat the game twice and the counters still don't work. i had the game and internet crash to

If it physical games and exclusives like the PSP, then yes. If it's just a digital emulator though, then no. I already have a smartphone.

Yeah I am a bit disappointed but I still have hopes for an announcement later this year.

Same. It was really the only thing I was looking forward to. I don't have as much time to game anymore and would really benefit from a better handheld way of playing instead of via streaming. New games don't excite me the same way when I already have a massive backlog I haven't gotten to yet.

Nah. I have my switch to play games that aren't on Xbox. Don't need a second xbox.

If it's a native system and not a pointless cloud-based streaming device to lug around alongside your already-capable mobile, I'll be interested.
Agreed. If an XBox handheld is to compete against the Steam Deck, players should have the option of playing games locally.

I'd like it that the handheld replaces the Series S. It's not necessary to have two consoles for devs to support. Make the handheld have the same power as the X and job done, one game which both devices can play exactly the same.
    Would you kindly...

I am down for the exclusives. But I have this strong feeling that it will only run titles that were made for XBOX consoles. Concerning smartphones, there isn't anything there really in my opinion. There are a lot of copies and variants (knockoffs) of native games on the iOS and Android stores. Some are actually good while others are whatever. Yes, Microsoft Store has its share of them too. But has Microsoft broken past the MCG gate as yet? We are still dealing with Minecraft and the few casual games (hence MCG). All others (cross-play or otherwise) have died out. There is Halo: Spartan Assault (with 5 day-one broken achievements) and Halo: Spartan Strike for iOS (which still works). But that is it. What was the point acquiring the King branch of Activision? I feel that it will be a forgotten brand. That is just my two cents.
