After weeks of speculation, Microsoft has announced that the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase will be held on June 9, which we hope will give us some much-needed release dates for upcoming Game Pass games. The company has also revealed that an unnamed event will follow the showcase, although reports suggest it will be a Call of Duty Direct.

As revealed on Xbox Wire, Microsoft will be hosting this year's Xbox Games Showcase on June 9 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST / 7pm EST. The company hasn't said what we can expect to see from the showcase other than that it will feature "games from our portfolio of studios across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios, in addition to titles from our third-party partners." If you fancy tuning in, the Xbox Games Showcase can be watched via the official Xbox YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook accounts, as well as the Xbox ASL Twitch Channel.

Microsoft has also teased that a currently unnamed show similar to last year's Starfield Direct will air immediately after the showcase. The company hasn't said what the mysterious event will cover, other than that we'll see a "special deep-dive into the next installment of a beloved franchise."

According to a report from The Verge, the follow-up show will be a Call of Duty Direct to reveal this year's entry rumored to be Black Ops Gulf War. We'll reportedly see a host of games from Activision Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox during the showcase, including an announcement for the next Gears of War game. Release dates for Avowed, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 could also be announced.

Insider Gaming recently reported that Microsoft is preparing to announce the Call of Duty back catalog for Xbox Game Pass, as well as a host of other Activision Blizzard games.

Bethesda's Todd Howard has announced that Starfield's Shattered Space DLC will launch this fall, so there is always a chance we'll get a release date for that too.
